Join us for this timely and informative course where instructor Dan Purvine will teach you the most up-to-date information you need to know to properly develop and support your firm’s overhead rate and minimize questioned costs in the state DOT review process. Through examples and experience with state DOTs nationwide, Dan will cover the risk areas you need to focus on to establish the necessary processes and documentation to support a FAR-compliant overhead rate and achieve state DOT approval.
For CPAs performing overhead rate audits, this course will describe key risk areas to address in the audit process and provide insight into specific areas of concern identified by state DOTs regarding CPA audit quality.
Topics will include current developments in the interpretation of FAR Part 31 and the AASHTO Audit Guide and how they impact the preparation and auditing of A/E firm overhead rates.
Using examples and interactive discussion, course participants will obtain a better understanding of state DOT expectations and A/E firm best practices for policies, procedures, and documentation for critical areas such as labor costing, bonuses, travel costs, compensation, and vehicles. Dan will also cover current developments in topics such as uncompensated overtime, home and field overhead rates, and challenging areas of FAR Part 31 interpretation.
This course will benefit A/E firms, CPA firms, and state DOT staff involved in developing, auditing, or reviewing A/E firm overhead rates.
